Just Only Slightly

 Book Cover

In this fictional comedy, the author paints a vivid picture of the humdrum life of main character, Paul Talkachev, a down-on-his luck guy living in New Jersey who discovers he is telekinetic. He can move and change objects without touching them and this is just the beginning as Paul sets out on a path of discovery and adventure. Landon’s book can be purchased at T16, the publisher’s new book buying website: https://t16books.com/.

“I set out to create a fun, voyeuristic story about Paul’s life with its blunders, adventures, small successes, and friendships,” said Landon, who served in the U.S. Navy and has been a day trader, merchant mariner, locksmith and writer. “This story is a dark comedy banking on nervous energy amply supplied by Paul and the interactions of a man slowly dripping into madness trying to negotiate other people’s feelings and desires.”

A colorful cast of characters surround main character Paul. Lurch and Stephens, wealthy eccentrics, are on an all-out search for other “Exceptionals” with powers to join forces and conquer the world. O’kiki, another quirky “Exceptional,” enters the picture early on, and she becomes Paul’s partner as they attempt to fight crime, pull off a robbery, and find ways to use their power for good.

“P.B.’s story is such a fun and entertaining read,” said Chris Schafer, CEO at Tactical 16 Publishing. “His main character, Paul, will make you laugh and cry all at the same time. Paul is so easy to relate to, and the story is a great escape from the everyday routine into a world of fantasy and mayhem!”

Landon lives in New Jersey and greatly enjoys telling stories about everyday occurrences that put his audience at the scene. His second book in the series is in the works and will be published soon as well.

MIND: PSYCHOLOGY

THE UNTOLD STORY OF HOW YOUR MIND WORKS...

This is a book about the most important discoveries in psychology. Not just the gnawed bones of the studies in a textbook, but what has been left out of what you think you know. From Genius to Suicide Bombers, from Science to Sex, all the best they never told you in school. 362 Pages, 7.5X9, fully illustrated

• The Brain: How experience controls the biology of the brain: Adrenalin, Cortisol, and Neurotransmitters flood the brain in response to words, Hollywood horror movies, anxiety-producing thoughts, and the girls shrieking “Witch, Witch!” at the Salem witch trial...

• Quest for the Mind Code; how the mind is programmed by the environment.

• New Evidence: How learning "hardwires" the brain for language, emotion, culture, sex....

• MInd Control is an everyday occurrence. Psychology’s General Theory of Relativity; Kamikaze pilots, suicide bombers, celebrity, Tank Killing dogs, sex, and Sacred Cows.

•The success of Genius is not about the brain, it is about learning how to think. How the greatest minds in history made their discoveries, in their own words.

• Cogito, ergo, cogito cogito: I think, therefore, I think, I think. The fact that we can think has created the illusion that we do think. Test yourself.  Perception determines our reality.

• What the greatest minds in psychology know about how the mind works. Understanding how the mind works gives us the potential to control our own mind, just as Einstein’s understanding of the atom gave us the potential to control the atom. We are far behind in that understanding.

TABLE OF CONTENTS:

1. OUTSIDE THE BOX: Genius is from the MIND, not the Brain.

Learned programs of thinking make Genius possible.  Genius, in their own words.

2. INSIDE THE BOX: Quest For The Mind Code

"The obscure we see eventually, the completely obvious, it seems, takes longer." The Dean of news, Edward R. Murrow.  Psychology’s Special and General Theories of Relativity

3. PEEKING OVER THE EDGE The Conscious Mind: Assembly Required: The new evidence. The Brain itself cannot develop without experience.  Experience “hardwires” the brain; from language to sex.

4. CULTURE AND ATTRACTION: THE "WOW" FACTOR:  ANY STIMULUS—ANY EMOTION

5. THE MYSTERY OF INSTINCTS THE NATURE VS NURTURE CONTROVERSY The Real Story.

6. ORIGIN OF THE INDIVIDUAL Forget the Theories, this is the Hard Evidence

7. DNA: THE GREAT MYSTERY OF BIOLOGICAL PROGRAMS IN OUR BRAIN

“...instinct functions in a blindly mechanical way especially apparent when its function goes wrong.”

8 THE ORGANIZATION OF KNOWLEDGE:  COGNITION AND CREATIVITY Experience Becomes Cognition.

9. PERSONALITY "Never forget that each of you is a distinctly different individual, just like everyone else."   Margaret Mead

10. WHAT INTELLIGENCE REALLY IS “If people knew how hard I had to work to obtain my mastery, it would not seem so wonderful after all.”  Michelangelo

Shores of our Forefathers: Sacred places of Valor, Determination and Liberty

 Book Cover

Sacred places of Valor, Determination and Liberty

Shores of Our Forefathers: A Journey Through Freedom and Heritage Joseph Akoi Zeze’s Shores of Our Forefathers is an evocative historical novel that takes readers on a journey through the rich and often tumultuous history of African-Americans and their quest for freedom. The book explores themes of liberty, sacrifice, and the indomitable spirit of those who fought against the chains of oppression. Set in the 19th century, the novel unfolds across two continents—America and Africa—bringing to life the stories of former slaves seeking freedom and new beginnings. From the tobacco fields of Virginia to the shores of West Africa, Zeze masterfully weaves a tale that is both intimate and epic in scope. The story centers on Robert “Bob-bob” Douglass, an enslaved man whose daring escape sets the stage for a larger narrative of courage and resilience. His perilous journey toward the Pepper Coast—what would become the Republic of Liberia—is driven by his yearning for freedom and the love of a woman tied to the dark secrets of the Cottonwood plantation. Through vibrant characters and a richly detailed setting, Shores of Our Forefathers sheds light on the complex history of African-American repatriation, abolitionism, and the founding of Liberia. The novel reflects on the sacrifices of many who, like Bob-bob, sought to break free from the confines of slavery and carve out a future on the distant shores of Africa. Along the way, Zeze explores questions of identity, loyalty, and the deep ties between the African diaspora and their ancestral homeland. At its core, this is a story of resilience, where the fight for freedom extends beyond physical boundaries to the emotional and spiritual liberation of a people. The novel honors the legacies of those who stood against oppression and worked to establish a new world where liberty and dignity could thrive. With its powerful historical themes and a deeply human story, Shores of Our Forefathers invites readers to reflect on the ongoing struggles for freedom and the strength of those who dared to dream of a better tomorrow.
